Katie graduated in 2020 with a Ph.D. in Environmental Biogeochemistry from the Colorado School of Mines, where she performed research concerning the detection of metal nanoparticles in the environment. She has been working in laboratories for the past 11 years, starting with a job at her undergraduate alma mater: University Wisconsin La Crosse, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with an environmental emphasis. Between graduating with her Bachelor’s degree and returning to school for her Ph.D., Katie worked as a contractor with the Environmental Protection Agency at a lab focused on aquatic toxicology.
